Henry Steiner has, since 1961, exerted a marked influence on graphic design in Asia and the Pacific Rim and has won numerous awards and international acclaim. He is past President of Alliance Graphique Internationale, Fellow of the Chartered Society of Designers, member of the American Institute of Graphic Arts and the New York Art Directors Club, and an honorary member of Design Austria. He received the 1990 Hong Kong Designer of the Year Award and was cited by Next magazine as one of the 100 most important people affecting Hong Kong's development since 1841. Born in Vienna, raised in New York, he attended Hunter College and was awarded a Master of Fine Arts degree in Graphic Design from Yale University in 1957 and later studied at the Sorbonne in Paris under a Fulbright Fellowship.

Henry Steiner is co-author of Cross-Cultural Design: Communicating in the Global Marketplace, published by Thames and Hudson in 1995.
